10. Gerald Green
In 2005, the Boston Celtics selected a young Gerald Green out of high school with the 18th overall selection in the NBA Draft. It was a challenge for Green to carve out a role for himself on a jam-packed Celtics team that already had Paul Pierce, Tony Allen, and had just drafted Rajon Rondo in 2006. But due to injuries throughout the season, Green started in 26 of the 81 games he played and finished the season averaging 10.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1 assist per game.
One of the more memorable moments from his first tenure with the Celtics was during his second season when he won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest over the great talents of Nate Robinson, Tyrus Thomas, and Dwight Howard. Green almost won the competition again in 2008, but this time he fell short to Dwight Howard.
It’s worth mentioning that Green was part of the ever-changing franchise trade that brought Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics in 2007 in a trade with the Timberwolves. About nine years later in 2016, Green found himself returning to the Celtics for what would be his second stint with the team, but this time under the regime of Brad Stevens where he provided an excellent veteran mentality to a playoff-contending team.
In three total seasons with the Celtics, Green played in 160 games averaging eight points and 2.1 rebounds per game.
