The Boston Celtics are often referred to as the most historic franchise in the history of the NBA. And rightfully so, as the Celtics have won a league-high 17 NBA championships in their existence. But the success and history should go beyond the glory of accumulating championship rings and banners, to the monumental players and figures who have compiled the teams over the years.
When most people think of the Boston Celtics, they instinctively start with the glory days of Red Auerbach, Bob Cousy, Bill Russell, and Tommy Heinsohn. Then next, to the legendary chapter years of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Danny Ainge. To even more recently with Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett, who helped bring the Celtics their last championship in 2008.
But what is often forgotten about or even overlooked is all the players and eventual stars in between that have donned the green and white for the Celtics throughout the years. Regardless if a championship was earned or not, the players involved still make up a big portion of what is the history of the Celtics.
