Half Man Half Amazing: Looking back at the best moments of Vince Carter’s career

Anniversary homecoming and one shining moment
While most people will not think of it this way 2014 had two major moments for Vince Carter. These came in different season but that does not make the moments any less special.
In the 2013-2014 season, Carter was a member of the Dallas Mavericks. He had initially gone back to be reunited with Jason Kidd for a final run but by this point, Kidd had already moved on. Dallas made the playoffs as the 8th seed and while this was not Carter’s last playoff appearance it afforded him the moment to hit a memorable shot.
Carter drilled a game-winning 3-pointer with no time remaining on the clock for the underdog Mavericks to take a 2-1 series lead against the Spurs. They would go on to lose the series but it was still one shining moment for Carter.
Then in November, Carter returned to where it all began. As a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, Carter visited Toronto nearly a decade after the trade in the season that was celebrating the 20th anniversary of the celebration. Some were afraid he would be met with a chorus of boos, as he had been in many a previous visit but this night was different.
While booing met him at first by the end Carter was serenaded by a glorious ovation during a video tribute. Carter was overwhelmed with emotion and it showed that time heals most wounds. Carter and the Raptors would not have made it to where they were without each other and their stories are inseparable. Sometimes even sports are bigger than just sports.
