15 stars you forgot played for the New York Knicks
10. Baron Davis
Most recently known for his involvement in the BIG3 League, Baron Davis once was one of the most exciting players to watch around the league. Unfortunately for New York Knicks fans, they only got to witness him during the last year of his career.
Around the trade deadline day of the 2010-11 NBA season, Davis was playing for the LA Clippers and was just about to exit his prime at 31 years of age. Upon agreement, they shipped him to the Cleveland Cavaliers, along with a draft pick that would become Kyrie Irving, in exchange for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon.
As Irving took over the Cavaliers next season, no playing time was guaranteed for Davis. The result was Davis being waived by the team and ultimately signing with the New York Knicks, a team that could vouch for at least some playing time.
Davis would make his season debut with the Knicks pretty late in the season, around the All-Star break. He was the starter for about half of the remaining games and every playoff game. At least until…
In a tight game 4 against the Miami Heat, Davis would tear his patella tendon in his right knee while attempting a quick bucket on the transition. Davis would be forced to retire from the NBA.
Luckily for Baron, only one of the aforementioned consequences would transpire, as a career in the BIG3 League would knock on his door a few years later.
