15 stars you forgot played for the New York Knicks
13. Antonio McDyess
Antonio McDyess is criminally slept on as an all-time great. One of the biggest “what ifs” in the history of the league, McDyess was once averaging 21.2 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game with the Denver Nuggets just at the age of 24.
Similarly to other unfortunate legends, McDyess suffered a career-altering knee injury right in the midst of his prime, forcing him to be more careful with his style of play. He would quickly go from being a member of an All-NBA team to a role player.
That injury would force him to abstain from basketball for about 20 months. On draft night of 2002, the Knicks decided to trade for him, giving up Mark Jackson, a prime Marcus Camby and the 7th pick who ended up being Nene.
The Knicks would go on to seriously regret that trade as McDyess ultimately appeared in just 18 games for the team. Luckily for them, they were able to move him to the Phoenix Suns, in exchange for Stephon Marbury and Penny Hardaway.
