1. Tracy McGrady

We’ve already mentioned a few “what ifs” so far. Well, get ready for the biggest one of all. Tracy McGrady had already been crowned NBA Scoring Champion twice before turning 25 and some may even argue that he was deprived of a couple of MVP awards too.

Approximately around 2008, T-Mac’s legs weren’t able to keep up with his explosive style of play. He had already been injured a few times, mainly on his left knee but things got way more serious after that year.

He and his teammate, Yao Ming, would spend more time together on the sidelines than on an actual NBA court. It was at that point that everyone, including McGrady himself, knew that he would never play at a superstar level again. All that at the age of 28.

After numerous injuries, McGrady was traded to the New York Knicks, in hopes of a fresh new start with a new team. After making an incredible debut with the team, his fans were anxiously waiting to see if he would be his old self again.

Unfortunately for the game of basketball, it was just a fluke. Tracy would average 9.4 points and 3.9 assists per game on a total of 24 games for tha season, after being acquired in February. He then spent the following seasons with the Detroit Pistons, the Atlanta Hawks and the San Antonio Spurs before deciding to call it quits.

The Knicks have made a lot of questionable trades and signings over the years. (If you expected a “however” or a “but” after this sentence, joke’s on you).
