15 stars you forgot played for the New York Knicks
5. Jason Kidd
Right about this point you’d correctly beginning to think “How many 40-year old ex-superstars have actually played for the Knicks?”. Well, the answer approaches infinity. What takes the cake, is that most of these players have also played for the Nets at some point as well.
What more is there left to say about Jason Kidd‘s legacy? He is a 10-time All-Star, five-time league assist leader, six-time All-NBA player and won the Rookie of the Year award in 1995. Kidd has also come within a whisker of winning an MVP award in 2002, barely losing out to Tim Duncan.
Similarly to Billups, Martin, Bibby and a few more names, there might be some people who remember Mr. Triple Double wearing a Knicks jersey, due to it still being a fresh part of our memory. Nevertheless, one mentions Kidd, you immediately think of the 00’s Nets.
During the 2012 free agency period, Kidd was a free agent and opted to sign a three-year, $9 million contract with the New York Knicks. His stay would be cut short, though, as he chose to retire after the first season and turn his attention to a career as a head coach.
While in New York, Kidd was the starting point guard in the majority of the team’s games for the season. His numbers were exactly what you’d expect from a 39-year-old, though his out-of-this-world basketball IQ was helping the team a lot.
Hilariously enough, a full season of a very old Jason Kidd were the best point guard minutes any one has provided for the New York Knicks for a very long time.
