With the 2019-20 season on hiatus due to the coronavirus, let’s look back at the Miami Heat’s five best developments for the season.

The Miami Heat were in the middle of a bounce-back season after missing the playoffs. Miami became a top-4 seed in the Eastern Conference with 17 games left in the 2019-20 regular season. Despite some declining play near the NBA season’s hiatus, the Heat were in prime position to win the most regular-season games since the Big 3 Era and make some noise in the playoffs.

And then it wasn’t.

The NBA suspended its season amidst mayhem regarding Utah Jazz players that were slated to miss their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder with illnesses. After Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19, the league suspended its season for at least 30 games.

Now, the league is aiming to return in June after the Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that groups of over 50 people should not meet for the next eight weeks.

As of now, the coronavirus pandemic has cut the Heat’s season 17 games short. In the 65 games Miami got to play, they won 41 of them, sitting in the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. Several players played well above their preseason expectations, leading to the team being seen as more of a title contender than previously thought.

With the rest of the 2019-20 season in limbo, let’s look back on the five best things from the Miami Heat’s season.
