With Paul George scratched from the lineup due to a nagging hamstring injury, the Clippers were going to rely on Kawhi Leonard to lead them versus the red-hot New Orleans Pelicans.

Leonard once again put on a gifted performance as he finished with a game-high 39 points, which included 15-of-28 shooting from the field, an impressive 53.6 percent. The forward also chipped in six rebounds, and six assists each to help boost his stellar night.

It was not just the offensive side of the ball that Leonard excelled on, however, as the forward showcased some incredible defense. In 34 minutes of play, Leonard totaled a season-high five steals and added a single blocked shot.

Six players on the Pelicans would score in double figures, nearly leading to an upset that would have had some effect on the Western Conference standings. However, New Orleans could not stop Kawhi, whose perseverance was incredible.

Leonard’s all-around phenomenal game elevated the Clippers to secure a 133-130 victory on the Pelicans’ home floor. Reigning Sixth Man of the Year winner Lou Williams chimed in with 32 points and five assists, but Leonard’s dominant performance on both ends of the floor was good enough to be his second-best game of the season.
