15 players you forgot played for the Golden State Warriors
12. Richard Jefferson (2012-13)
After a disappointing sub-three year stint with the Spurs, Richard Jefferson found his way to Golden State via trade midway through the 2011-12 season.
By season’s end, RJ had picked up a thing or two after 11 years in the league, including back-to-back Finals runs as a member of the then-New Jersey Nets at the beginning of the century.
It was the next season where the Warriors began to truly take off, more than doubling their win total with 47 and an unexpected run to the conference semi-finals.
Through it all, Jefferson didn’t do much on the court, averaging 3.1 points across 10.1 minutes a game. But his decade-plus-long experience proved beneficial to the open minds of those who wound up the faces of a dynasty several years later.
Ironically enough, the Warriors’ trading of RJ — among several others — to the Utah Jazz after their initial playoff run opened the cap space to sign Andre Iguodala, the 2015 Finals MVP and crucial piece to their recent three championships.
