5. Jerry Lucas (1969-71)
Jerry Lucas originally rose to star status as a member of the then-Cincinnati Royals. A six-time All-Star to that point, he averaged 19.6 points and a whopping 19.1 rebounds along with 3.0 assists per game.
It was not five games into the 1969-70 season, however, when the Royals decided to trade Lucas to the team then known as the San Francisco Warriors.
After watching his role diminish in his brief time with Cincinnati that season — he averaged fewer minutes and shots — Lucas regained some of his All-Star form as a Warrior to finish out the year, putting up 15.4 points and 14.4 rebounds a game.
The following season — his one full run with the Warriors — saw the former Ohio State alumni make the last of his All-Star appearances by producing nightly averages of 19.2 points, 15.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
San Fran made a return to the playoffs after a one-year hiatus thanks to the incredible inside presence of the Hall of Fame forward, losing to Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, Oscar Robertson and the eventual champion Milwaukee Bucks in five games.
Lucas was then traded to the Knicks, where he’d contribute to their 1972-93 title.
