Forward – Davis Bertans

Davis Bertans is the only player to make the All-NBA Out-Of-Nowhere team that was actually drafted. Bertans was taken with the 42nd overall selection in 2011 by the Indiana Pacers. He was quickly traded along with Kawhi Leonard to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for George Hill. Although he didn’t immediately play for the Spurs as he continued to play in Europe for five years.

After finally deciding to come to the NBA, Bertans signed his rookie contract with the Spurs in 2016 and was in and out of the G-League. After two seasons he signed another contract with the Spurs, this time for two years $14 million and one year into that contract was traded to the Washington Wizards.

This season, his first season with the Wizards, Davis Bertans is averaging a career-high 15.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game with shooting splits of .434/.424/.852. While the Wizards have been abysmal this season, Bertans has been the one player that has been of any use besides Bradley Beal.

Davis Bertans has certainly set himself up to get a big contract this summer and has certainly established himself in the NBA. It will be interesting to see what contract he warrants, especially considering the unique circumstances the NBA is facing right now.
