Guard – Chris Chiozza

Chris Chiozza was a highly recruited player out of high school. He had a number of Division I scholarship offers and eventually committed to the University of Florida where he had an awesome four-year career. In his senior season at Florida, Chiozza averaged 11.1 points and 6.1 assists per game (according to Basketball-Reference) and led his team to a six-seed in NCAA tournament.

Despite the high school and college success, Chiozza went undrafted in 2018 and ended up playing for the Washington Wizards summer league team. After summer league he signed a training camp deal with the Wizards and then signed a contract to play that season with the Wizards G-League team, the Capital City Go-Go’s. Chiozza then signed a 10-day contract with the Houston Rockets and was in and out of the G-League. He was later waived by the Rockets and signed yet another 10-day contract with the Wizards, which led to him signing a two-way contract with the Wizards. Unfortunately, he was then waived by the Wizards and is currently on a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets.

Chris Chiozza was having an awesome stretch as the Nets backup point guard before the NBA’s hiatus. During the month of March, Chiozza was averaging 10.0 points and 2.6 assists per game in 19.1 minutes per game off the bench for the Nets, according to NBA.com.

He was shooting above 50 percent from both the field and behind the 3-point arc and is yet to miss a free throw (4-of-4) in his NBA career. While these numbers are obviously a small sample size, Chiozza has been providing amazing effort on both ends of the floor for this Nets team and could find himself a permanent role in the league very soon.
