Corey Maggette

While his time with the Detroit Pistons was brief, Corey Maggette had an overall interesting basketball life. Beginning with his time at Duke where he was one of the first players under coach Mike Krzyzewski to leave before finishing out their eligibility.

As a member of the Los Angeles Clippers he was a driving force for the team winning their first playoff series since moving from Buffalo. After stops in Golden State, Milwaukee and Charlotte, Maggette came to the Motor City to play what would be his final season.

He was traded to Detroit as the Pistons used this as a chance to get out from under the contract of Ben Gordon, the aforementioned disaster that helped ruin the salary cap for the franchise for years. Between injuries, a poor relationship with coach Lawrence Frank and a self-professed lack of interest in the game, Maggette only appeared in 18 games for Detroit and posted only his second season where he did not average double-figures in scoring.

His post-playing career saw him join Fox Sports as an analyst covering the Los Angeles Clippers and college basketball. In 2017 he joined the BIG3 league. While his inaugural season ended in the opening game with a torn Achilles, his second season was a resounding success. He was named MVP, Captain of the Year and won the BIG3 Championship.
