4. Kendrick Nunn, Jan. 15 vs. San Antonio Spurs
Coming off back-to-back losses following a horror weekend in New York, the Heat were keen to make amends and revert to their early season form in the friendly confines of the American Airlines Arena.
No one was more determined on this night than rookie Kendrick Nunn. One of the genuine surprise stories of the season, Nunn has come from being an undrafted G Leaguer to starting in each of his 62 appearances.
In just 31 minutes, Nunn registered 33 points and four assists, with his efficiency from the field the highlight of the night as the Heat prevailed 106-100 over the San Antonio Spurs.

The 24-year-old shot 13-of-18 from the field including 5-of-7 from long range. As has been a feature in his debut year, Nunn was outstanding from the midrange, nailing six of his eight attempts between 10-19 feet from the rim.
Following the game, coach Spoelstra commented on Nunn’s outstanding play — via FOX Sports Florida & Sun:
"“Every time he shot it tonight, after about the third time, it looked like it was going down….he just stays with it, he doesn’t get caught up in all the highs and lows….once he hit a few threes we started running a few more actions with him involved, and he was just very assertive.”"
Not only was Nunn assertive in creating his own scoring. He was equally adept in working off the ball in this contest, with four of his five triples coming from catch-and-shoot opportunities.
And while he has had a couple of notable slumps throughout his 62 games, Nunn has shown incredible resilience in bouncing back in fine form. And with the Heat looking to atone after having lost four of their previous seven games, Nunn came up big against one of the franchise’s more noted adversaries.
