Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum’s top five games this season
No. 3: 1/11 vs. NOP
- 41 Pts (16-of-22 shooting)
- 6 Reb
- 4 Ast
- 3 Stl
- Win (140-105)
This type of performance could not have come at a better time for Tatum and the Celtics. Having been the losers of three in a row with a depleted New Orleans Pelicans team coming to town, the team needed a big win to right the ship.
A big win was exactly what they got, in large part to Jayson Tatum’s career-high 41 points in just three quarters.
He shot extremely efficient in this one, missing just six shots in total, and only needing 22 attempts to hit the 40 point mark.
This was Tatum’s first career 40 point game, and it wouldn’t be his last. He didn’t commit a single turnover, despite posting a team-high 31 percent usage rate.
The team cruised to an easy win against the injury-riddled Pels and Tatum was the reason why. He constantly made his defenders look silly and they questioned his next move every time he broke them down in an iso.
If the Charlotte game was the start of something special, this one was the start of the next level for Tatum just 20 days after the Hornets game.
