Toronto Raptors: 7 worst things from the season so far
By Nate Friesen
2. The Clippers destroyed the Raptors in Kawhi’s return
On December 11th 2019, Kawhi Leonard and the LA Clippers came to Toronto to play the Raptors in Kawhi’s first time back in the Scotiabank Arena since last years trip to the NBA finals. Kawhi Leonard received his championship ring, the crowd cheered and thanked Kawhi for bringing the city its first NBA championship. And then Kawhi proceeded to dominate the Raptors.
Kawhi Leonard finished the game with 23 points, five rebounds and six assists in just 32 minutes of action. The Raptors had no answer for the balanced scoring attack of the Clippers and the Raptors struggled to score themselves. The final score was a dominant 112-92 for the Clippers, as the moment just seemed too big for the Kawhi-less Raptors.
It would have been nice to see the Raptors get a big win over Kawhi to prove to everybody that they didn’t need him, however, I believe they did prove this in the couple of months following this game.
Both the Raptors and Clippers have had amazing seasons and are sitting in the 2nd seed in their respective conferences at the time of the league’s hiatus. If this NBA season does resume it would be incredibly cool to see a Clippers vs Raptors NBA finals in order to definitively see if Kawhi chose the right team.
