4. Raptors staff vs security

During the NBA finals last year, Raptors president Masai Ujiri was accused of attacking a Golden State Warriors security guard but avoided charges. However, this season Alan Strickland, the security guard involved in the incident, decided to file a lawsuit against Ujiri for “injuries to his nervous system that will result in permanent disability.”, according to Courthouse News Service.

This is just a really unfortunate situation for Masai Ujiri who just wanted to get onto the court to celebrate a championship with his team. While I don’t want to make light of the potential damages that may have been caused to this security guard, one never can be sure of the validity of the accusation in the first place.

In addition to this situation with Masai Ujiri, just last week in the Raptors game against the Utah Jazz, Raptors coach Nick Nurse was walking over to his team’s bench when Jazz security confronted him and asked him if he had a ticket. Fortunately for Nurse and the Raptors, the security eventually let him go and coach his team.

It’s very confusing as to how this type of situation could happen to the Toronto Raptors twice with the same year. I mean, do these security guards not watch basketball? And even if they don’t watch basketball, should they not be informed before the game of who is and who isn’t a part of the team? This seems like something that should never happen, let alone happen twice to the same team, in the same year.
