Boston Celtics: Evaluating the Celtics heading into the hiatus
Overall Performance Breakdown
On both offense and defense, the Boston Celtics have consistently been top five, for the whole season.
That certainly explains why they are third in the Eastern Conference. If healthy for a majority of the season, people may be talking about the Celtics as a legitimate Finals contender.
They already are a contender, but no one knows what to expect with their top six guys fully healthy.
Off the court, the team is doing better than last season.
After every loss, no one can be seen or heard calling out teammates, and everyone remains relatively upbeat. Of course, there are times where players get frustrated, but that doesn’t linger to the next game.
They look like they have fun out there. Additions to the team, like Enes Kanter, Tacko Fall, Grant Williams, and Kemba, of course, have brought team spirit up, and are reasons that the team is constantly having fun with one another.
One look to the bench after a big play would show you all you need to see: Kemba smiling and laughing, Grant and Robert Williams laughing at the end of the bench, Enes cheering and clapping, and Javonte Green dancing too. It seems much more genuine than it did last season.
Coaching has been great for the season, too. Of course, Brad has his moments where he doesn’t use a timeout when he maybe should have, or he makes a suspect rotation that ruins the flow of the game. However, he has done a good job with the cards he has been dealt, and maybe he will look even better when the league continues, if that is what the league office plans to do.
If the season does continue, look for a healthy Boston Celtics team to disrupt the Milwaukee Bucks, the current favorite in the East. Out of all possible teams to take the East crown from them, Boston may have the best shot.
