Chicago Bulls: 3 reasons Coby White is a rising star
1. Coby White is a work in progress but brightens the Chicago Bulls’ future
By no means is Coby White a finished project. He’s hardly even begun to scratch the surface of his potential. Remember, he just completed his teenage years. He still cannot legally buy himself a drink. He’s young, and these things take time.
Still, his emergence as one of the Bulls’ go-to scorers has put a positive spin on a dreadful season. In 64 games, all off the bench, he’s scoring 13.1 points per game and has boosted his 3-point shooting to 35.5 percent. Not flamboyant numbers but a fine start for any rookie.
The Chicago Bulls young core has taken a hit this season, at least in reputation. That’s what happens when a team sits with only 21 wins as Mid-March nears. Injury woes have started to become a concern for Markkanen and Carter, Otto Porter Jr. and his $27 million player option for 2020-21 missed most of this season and well, the team is still under the guidance of Boylen, Paxson and company’s development plan.
Coby White at least gives the franchise and the fanbase something to be excited about, even as their faint playoff hopes are daily becoming less likely.
He may not have been a Rising Star in February, but he’s a star in the making for the Chicago Bulls.
