2. He is already one of the Chicago Bulls’ best players

For whatever reason, Boylen has decided to keep White coming off the bench. While Ryan Arcidiacono, Denzel Valentine and Shaquille Harrison have all gotten their turns with the starting five, White still awaits his opportunity.

Starter or not, White is already one of the team’s best players. With LaVine out of the lineup, Coby is their go-to guy. Remember, he’s only 20 years old.

Maybe the head coach has his reasons for sticking with Coby on his bench. Ordinarily, throwing a teenager into the lineup and handing him the keys to the offense is frowned upon. Frankly, it’s discouraged.

This season, however, has been anything but ordinary.

With LaVine, recently missing time due to a left quadriceps strain, and Lauri Markkanen in a season-long slump of his own, the team has been relying on White as their first scoring option. If Chicago considers White a long-term piece of their puzzle, why not see what progress the franchise can make with him in the lineup at the jump?

Who knows, maybe Boylen will insert White into the lineup soon. Perhaps the young rookie is better served currently in a sixth-man role. Either way if, at this point, the season is about development, then Coby White should be on the court during crunch time. Without LaVine, he’s the team’s best scorer, yet when the Bulls trot out to start the second half with a deficit – which is often, White is relegated to the bench.

For the Chicago Bulls to efficiently finish the regular season strong, smart decisions have to be made, from the sidelines and on the court.
