13. Andrew Bynum (2013)

To this day, Andrew Bynum’s brief season with the Cleveland Cavaliers doesn’t make much sense.

Early in his career, Bynum became one of the most promising big men in the league. He was a dominant force in the paint and helped the Los Angeles Lakers win back-to-back titles.

Before injuring his knee and missing the entire 2012-13 NBA season, Bynum averaged a career-high 18.7 points, 11.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks the year prior. He was then traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, where he was sidelined for the entire season.

Once he hit the free agency market, the Cavaliers elected to swing for the fences and offer a two-year $24 million contract. The hope was that Bynum could recover and return to his former self, giving a young Kyrie Irving a suitable sidekick moving forward.

Sadly, Bynum never pulled it together. The big man appeared in a grand total of 26 games during the 2013-14 season, looking like a shell of his former self. He was consistently held back by injury, lumbering up and down the floor at slow speeds.

The towering big man was never going to recover from his devastating knee injury. His short time in Cleveland would serve as the final season of his short career.
