2. No awards go to the Lakers

The Lakers might as well be the most historic franchise in NBA history. During many decades’ worth of dominating, they have brought home 14 different awards, as they have won every award possible apart from the Most improved Player award.

Perhaps the most impressive feat of them all is the eight MVP trophies they can boast about. Those have come from 4 different players, a selection of names you might have heard of. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and the great Kobe Bryant have all truly honored the city of Los Angeles by winning their respective MVP awards.

This season, the Los Angeles Lakers have four candidates in serious conversation for some of the awards. Both James and Davis appear to be amongst the top-four in MVP voting, with Davis also having a strong case at the Defensive Player of the Year award.

One cannot forget the team’s unsung hero, Frank Vogel, who has managed to put together a heck of a team, consisting of extremely high-octane personalities. This Vogel-led team is pacing towards the first seed in its conference, with a 60-plus win season looking more and more likely.

Unfortunately, despite having all those candidates, awards are only won by one person. In that case, the Los Angeles Lakers would have to consider themselves lucky if they were able to bring home even one of the aforementioned awards, as unlikely as it may seem.
