Following their loss to the Sacramento Kings, the Washington Wizards‘ playoff chances are looking bleak. They now sit four and a half games back of the eighth seed Orlando Magic.
Washington’s playoff chances have ebbed and flowed the entire season. At one point it looked like they were a lock for the eighth seed, and at others, it’s looked as if though they’d only be lucky.
There are a number of swirling factors playing a role in this year’s playoff race. Primarily, injury. But the Wizards have lucked out with a recent stretch of good health, helping them mold the roster from on paper to the on-court product that’s we’re seeing.
And while they suffered some in terms of offensive efficiency, Washington put together a top-10 defense for the month of February, that saw them go 6-6. Bradley Beal is absolutely on fire, averaging 41.3 points over his last six games played.
Additionally, head coach Scott Brooks is figuring out his rotations at just the right time. There have been some changes to the starting lineups, and minutes distribution among the frontcourt. The Wizards are prepping for what they hope will be a successful playoff push. But will they make it?
