3. The Celtics are a top 5 team on the road
The Boston Celtics are currently sixth in the NBA in road win percentage, and are fifth in total wins on the road. Two important teams that rank ahead of them: the Milwaukee Bucks and the Raptors.
The Celtics will likely have to face both of those teams in their path to the NBA Finals. If they can get the second seed over the Raptors, having homecourt advantage over them will simplify that series.

In the playoffs, winning on the road is a necessity. The regular season is a good indicator of if a team is cut out to perform that way in the postseason.
Teams tend to play better at home, especially in the playoffs. Being able to steal a game in an opponent’s arena will do nothing but give the team confidence, and also deflate the confidence of the opposition.
If the Celtics are capable of beating out the Bucks and the Raptors, their road success will be key against a Western foe.
Among the teams ahead of Boston in road win percentage, the Los Angeles Lakers are the only Western contenders ahead of them. The Celtics already embarrassed the Lakers on the parquet in January in what was a top win for the C’s at this point in the season.
If their road success can continue into the postseason, the Celtics should be confident to face anybody away from home.
