Montrezl Harrell still atop NBA Sixth Man of the Year Ladder
By Phil Watson
The regular center for the LA Clippers in every sense save for being on the court to start the game, Montrezl Harrell continues to build a solid resume both for his jump into unrestricted free agency this summer and to supplant teammate Lou Williams as the NBA Sixth Man of the Year.
While the Clippers were just 5-4 over the last four weeks, Harrell averaged 16.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 26.4 minutes per game, shooting 61.2 percent overall while missing his lone 3-point attempt.
Harrell is posting career numbers for the fourth consecutive season of his five-year career, playing in 54 of LA’s 55 games — starting twice — and averaging 18.8 points, 7.1 boards and 1.1 blocks in 28.4 minutes a night. He’s shooting 57.6 percent overall while going 0-for-16 from deep.
In the final game before the break, Harrell put up 24 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals in 44 minutes as the Clippers lost in double overtime at Boston on Feb. 13.
He was 7-for-12 from the floor and 10-of-14 at the line in the loss.
