14. Lou Hudson (1977-79)

Before he joined the Los Angeles Lakers, six-time All-Star guard Lou Hudson did have one notable link to the team.

Hudson did his best work for the Atlanta Hawks (formerly the St. Louis Hawks). In addition to his All-Star nods, he was All-NBA and his No. 23 is retired by the franchise. In 1972-73, Hudson and Pete Maravich became the second pair of teammates in league history to score 2,000 points in the same season. The first pair? Lakers legends Elgin Baylor and Jerry West.

Nearing the end of his career at 33 years old, Hudson was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. He played two seasons there, averaging 11.8 points per game. It was a far cry from his prime, when he put up 25.9 points per game for the Hawks between 1970-74.

Hudson was still a productive role player in L.A. alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jamaal Wilkes, Norm Nixon, Adrian Dantley and Charlie Scott. The Lakers made the playoffs in both of Hudson’s seasons with the team, but didn’t get past the second round.

Lou Hudson passed away in 2014.
