5. Jim Jackson (2006)

Jim Jackson never made an NBA All-Star team and never won an individual award during his 14-year career. But at his best, Jackson was a solid 20-points-per-game scorer with the very popular but not very successful Mavericks squad featuring himself, Jason Kidd and Jamal Mashburn.

The fact that Jackson played for 12 teams in 14 seasons makes him an NBA journeyman by most people’s definition. Don’t think that the former Ohio State star was just some end-of-the-bench guy, however. Jackson was a valuable role player for some real contenders, including the 1999 Trail Blazers, 2003 Kings and 2005 Suns.

Jackson’s stint with the Los Angeles Lakers came at the end of his career, during the second half of the 2005-06 season when L.A. signed him after he’d been waived by the Suns.

Jackson appeared in 13 regular-season games and three playoff games for the Lakers, scoring a total of 26 points (1.6 points per game).

Perhaps his biggest claim to fame as a Laker is that Jackson was the last player to wear No. 24 for the franchise before Kobe Bryant adopted the number ahead of the 2006-07 season.
