Enes Kanter and Daniel Theis

Theis Grade: C+

Kanter Grade: B-

Daniel Theis has been impactful on the defensive end of the floor to start the season. Enes Kanter has been impressive on the offensive end, providing a low post presence with scoring and offensive rebounds. They both have served their purposes nicely but remain question marks against the likes of elite guys like Joel Embiid.

Kanter specifically has been impressive this season. He’s averaging 9.2 points and 8.2 rebounds in just 18.6 minutes per game. He’s always been labeled as a defensive liability, but his offensive production has seemed too far outweigh any defensive struggles so far this season. The one knock on Kanter is that he’s very easily played out of games in certain circumstances.

Theis is more versatile in the fact that he’s quicker and more reliable defensively. On the other hand, he’s not the rebounder nor post scorer that Kanter is. Theis has been able to stretch the floor to an extent, shooting 30 percent from three on just over one attempt per game. It’ll be interesting to see how the rotations shake out come playoff time, especially if Robert Williams returns from injury and gets some run.
