Jaylen Brown

Grade: A-

Last year, Jaylen Brown entered his third NBA season looking to make the leap. Instead, his minutes fell and his numbers declined across the board. This year, Brown has responded by currently averaging career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, and steals.

Jaylen Brown had a very real case to be named an All-Star this year. That’s how good he has been in the first half of this NBA season. While he fell short in that regard, he’s been nothing but terrific for the Boston Celtics.

Brown is averaging 20.2 points per game as the third offensive option on the team. His ball-handling ability has been his biggest improvement and has allowed him to create for himself in a more consistent manner. Brown has been able to get to the rim with ease and he should only get better at it going forward.

Brown continues to be a good perimeter defender and he’ll be crucial in that area come playoff time. He’ll likely draw the potential matchups of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Ben Simmons and Pascal Siakam. Brown is shooting 38 percent from 3-point range and is getting a lot of clean spot-up looks as the defense crashes on the Celtics’ other options.
