Kemba Walker

Grade: A

Kemba Walker’s excitement to join the Boston Celtics in July was refreshing, but only a precursor for what was to come. When he said he was eager to play in the playoffs he meant it. He’s been more than willing to sacrifice to be part of a team that can compete deep into May, or possibly even June.

Coming from a team like the Charlotte Hornets where he was given the keys to the offense and the opportunity to score whenever he liked, it’s tough to transition into a role where you’re just a piece of the puzzle. Yet, his ability to give the ball to Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown and watch them go to work has been admirable, and it’s the most important aspect of this year’s Celtics team.

Walker’s presence on the offense is one that will be needed, especially as we near the playoff stretch run. Having an elite ball-handler who can get his shot anytime he wants is invaluable in the postseason. He has also been a very willing defender, taking charges at a high rate for someone his size.

Walker has been everything the Boston Celtics could hope for and more this season.
