Ping Pong Balls and a Long Summer

Ultimately, the next 25 games are about watching the young players and losing.  Making the most of each outing is up to the eye of the beholder.  Wood will win many fans as he fills the stat sheet.  Mykialiuk gets better every game and is looking like a steal from the Reggie Bullock trade last season.  Some of the Grand Rapids kids could get moments to shine down the stretch.

It remains to be seen which veterans will remain after the buyout deadline of March 1.  Reggie Jackson, Langston Galloway and Markieff Morris are all on expiring contracts and could help out a contender much more than they are this Pistons team.

While some veteran leadership is necessary to teach all the young players on this roster Rose, Griffin, John Henson and Brandon Knight could fill that role nicely.

If you do not like ugly basketball the rest of this season may not be for you.  Disjointed losing is the likely outcome for the rest of the year.  The Detroit Pistons will take their lumps over the tough remaining stretch of the season.

But help could be on the way sooner than later.  The Basketball Gods just need to shine some lottery luck on the Detroit Pistons.
