Chicago Bulls: Will reported front office changes be enough?
3. Change is in the air for the Chicago Bulls – finally
It hasn’t been much of a secret that the Bulls front office might be headed for some sort of breakup. Rumors have been swirling for a while now, ranging from a complete cleaning house to maybe simply some re-assigning of roles.
K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago has reported that Bulls COO Michael Reinsdorf used All-Star Weekend to discuss the future of his front office with colleagues from around the NBA.
"Talk has been rampant throughout All-Star weekend about expected changes to the Bulls’ front office. According to multiple sources, Reinsdorf has been using this week to continue seeking input from confidantes around the league on candidates for what one source described as “an empowered presence” in the front office."
So, we know change is in the air for Chicago. The Bulls have been stuck in the mud for the past few seasons and their rebuilding efforts haven’t taken shape. Zach LaVine has developed into a high-scoring guard, Lauri Markkanen has struggled this season and may or may not be unhappy with how he’s been used in the offense and Otto Porter and his enormous contract has barely played for the team.
Chicago has been beset by numerous injuries, again, but those can hardly be seen as an excuse (for reference, see the Toronto Raptors). The team hasn’t been good and while there is talent in place, they cannot keep treading water.
