Most Improved Player: Troy Brown Jr.

This award is a no-brainer for the Wizards, who’ve seen last year’s first-round pick flourish into a promising defender, ball handler and the primary of those two in their second unit.

On the year, Troy Brown Jr. is averaging 10.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game, all up considerably from his rookie season.

His 3-point percentage has climbed from a .315 clip to .333, and he’s already made nearly twice as many shots from deep as last season. Brown has been one of the fewer bright spots when things were darker for the Wizards earlier this season.

Those who’ve watched closely see just what he has to offer to Washington: Astute defense, incredible court vision, and scrapbooks worth of different moves to finish with under the basket.

Brown notched a career-high 26 points earlier this year against the New York Knicks, as well as a career-high seven assists in the very same game. He was also the fourth-youngest player this season to record a game with five or more steals, per Basketball-Reference.

Things are indeed looking up for the Wizards’ young forward, and he should be acknowledged for such.
