Milwaukee Bucks: The Bucks are the superteam nobody talks about
By Duncan Smith
The Milwaukee Bucks are a historic team
From a statistical perspective, these Milwaukee Bucks should not be measured against the rest of the NBA but against the best teams in history. Through 54 games they have a net rating of +11.5, a huge improvement over last year’s +8.6.
This net rating would be better than even the best season of the Golden State Warriors run, surpassing the +11.4 they put up in 2016-17, Kevin Durant‘s first season. It’s better than the San Antonio Spurs net rating in 2015-16, an impressive +11.1.
In modern history the only net rating better than the one belonging to these Bucks is that of the 1996-97 Chicago Bulls. Of course, that team went 72-10 and had a net rating of +11.8.

The Milwaukee Bucks have a long way to go to prove they belong in this rarified air. The Warriors went to five straight NBA Finals, winning three championships. The Bulls, well, we all know what Michael Jordan‘s Bulls did.
That said, we can’t sell this team’s incredible performance short. The Bucks are a lesson in living in the moment. Whether Giannis wins multiple titles with this team or not remains to be seen, but not enjoying them for what they are while they’re in this transcendent form would be inexcusable for both fans and the media.
After all, once there was a time when Stephen Curry and Michael Jordan both had no championships. Watching the ride from the start like we have with Giannis is a joy that should be experienced as such.
