Kawhi Leonard helped key the LA Clippers to an 8-5 record over the last four weeks, with LA going 7-3 when Leonard was available and 1-2 when he was rested during back-to-back games. That leaves the Clippers third in the Western Conference at 37-18 at the All-Star break, five games behind the first-place Lakers and one game in back of second-place Denver.
Over the last four weeks, Leonard has averaged 29.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.1 blocks in 33.9 minutes per game while shooting 45.6 percent overall and 38.2 percent on 6.8 3-point attempts per game. Throw in a 90.8 free throw percentage on 7.6 attempts a night and that’s not a bad 10-game stretch.
He scored 39 points in a win at New Orleans on Jan. 18, grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds in a win at Orlando on Jan. 26 and matched a season- and career-high with 10 assists in a win at Miami on Jan. 24. The win over the Heat also marked Leonard’s first career triple-double, as he added 33 points and 10 rebounds.
Leonard was one of the three Western Conference frontcourt players elected to start and was selected to start with an all-Los Angeles front line for Team LeBron alongside Lakers Anthony Davis and LeBron James.
Leonard has played in 42 of LA’s 55 games thus far this season and is averaging career-highs of 27.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists to go with 1.8 steals in 32.5 minutes per game, while shooting 46.3 percent overall and 37.4 percent on 5.7 deep tries a night.
