10. 11/1 vs New York Knicks

Result: Win (104-102)

November’s first game saw the Celtics struggling to put away an inferior team. After all, the New York Knicks weren’t that bad a team until coaching rumors started swirling. It also did not help that Marcus Morris had one of his better games of the season on that Friday night. He went off for 29 points on a  fairly efficient shooting display. He was hitting clutch threes and shots like he was back playing for the Celtics again.

Despite all of that, the Celtics were able to get the win. It seemed like they were trying to give the game away at the end, which has been an issue in 2020 in close games. This game may have been where the trend started for them.

Although it was only a two-point win for the Celtics, this game didn’t have the same kind of intensity as other games down the list did. However, the ending of it resulted in something that the Celtics haven’t done since.

With the game tied at 102-102, Jayson Tatum received the ball from Marcus Smart in the right corner. Let’s let the video tell the rest:

Kemba Walker was the game’s scoring leader in the contest, dropping 33 points and hitting shots when it mattered. For it being so early in the season, it was a good sign for Celtics fans to see Walker getting settled into the team’s offense with ease.

Since that game, Boston has not had another game-winner with that little time left. Sure, there have been some go-ahead baskets. Yet none of them left less than two seconds on the clock. For that reason alone, this one sits at No. 10.
