Boston Celtics: Top 10 games from the first half of 2019-20
2. 10/30 vs Milwaukee Bucks
Result: Win (116-105)
The Milwaukee Bucks are currently the best team in the NBA. They sit at a league-best 46-8. One of those losses was against the Celtics early in the season.
Boston was still figuring out defensive matchups and schemes, as this game was only their fourth of the season. Naturally, the Bucks dominated the Celtics early and often. Boston was troubled my Milwaukee’s length on defense, and both of those factors contributed to a rough first half.
For those that turned off the TV at halftime, they missed quite the show in the second half. Climbing back from a 19-point hole is never easy, but the Celtics made it look that way in the third and fourth quarters. Led by Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker, the Celtics climbed all the way back, took the lead, and never looked back.
Walker scored a game-high 32 and even had a nice bucket over Giannis Antetokounmpo. Kemba and Tatum even had a nice moment at the end of the 3rd, which can be seen below.
Without Jaylen Brown, this game seemed like it’d be a tough loss. However, it was merely a tough win. This was a turning point for Boston, and they made a statement so early in the season.
From there on, they built momentum and for the most part, they haven’t looked back. Even in their loss to the Bucks later in the season, Boston played tough despite falling behind. If they can avoid falling behind in big games, they can be even better.
This game was going to be #1, but there was one more game that eclipsed it recently.
