Los Angeles Lakers: Midseason team awards
Wonder of the Year: Dwight Howard
In what has been without a doubt the most pleasant surprises of all, Dwight Howard‘s revival has played a major role at the tremendous success that the Lakers have been having so far.
Initially signed out of despair due to DeMarcus Cousins‘ injury, nobody thought Howard would bring a lot to the table. After failing to impress throughout his previous couple of seasons, there weren’t many people out there that still believed in Dwight.
But everybody loves a good “prove everybody wrong” type of story.
Howard is averaging 7.7 points and 7.8 rebounds while only being on the court for an average of 19.6 minutes per game. And if that kind of efficiency wasn’t enough for you, he is also leading the league in field goal percentage amongst those that are playing on a daily basis (30 games or more) at 74 percent shooting.
The man, the myth, also known as Superman, is set to participate in the Slam Dunk Contest, making his return for the first time since 2009. Howard will take part in his fourth contest of his career and will look to add an extra trophy to his collection, having previously won it in 2008.
