As the college season rounds into tournament form, it’s time to evaluate each major prospect in preparation for the draft starting with Anthony Edwards.

The vast majority of 2020 NBA draft prospects haven’t escaped any share of criticism this season, and that includes whom many would consider the first guard off the board in Georgia’s Anthony Edwards.

Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman may have said it best in one of his latest articles detailing Edwards’ inconsistency as an offensive threat.

"Edwards’ production hasn’t translated to consistent impact at Georgia. Many of his biggest scoring outbursts have come with his team trailing big. He doesn’t show a good feel for how to efficiently hunt for offense in the half court."

This kind of statement has been relatively commonplace when reading online about the shooting guard, but it’s important to put these statements into context and break down why they’re potentially true or false.

That is essentially the goal of putting together scouting reports and any type of prospect ranking for that matter. Dissecting the truth, formulating an educated opinion and bringing forth an intricate analysis of any player looking to throw their name in the NBA gauntlet is what I’m certainly here to do, and it starts with looking into the season of one of the draft’s more polarizing prospects.

Coming out of high school, Edwards was billed as one of the next “It” guys at the guard spot. Explosive athleticism, range shooting and flash scoring all point to a star at the next level, when the whole package comes together.

Has Edwards proven himself as a top draft candidate? At times he’s looked overly impressive, particularly on offense.

However, what holds him back is consistency and role within the offense when he isn’t able to freely pick and choose his spots in transition.

This report will serve as an overall analysis for Edwards and take a look at the major skill categories that define a prospect, as well as his physical/mental attributes and combine these factors into an overall grade and future projection.

Without further ado, let’s start by looking at what he brings to the table in terms of scoring.
