Beasley is an intriguing prospect with his rookie deal set to expire. Denver has been competitive and his playing time has been inconsistent — playing anywhere from 7.5 minutes per game to 23.2 per game. He has been a consistent rotational player for the past two years but his play hasn’t been consistent.
Hernangomez has struggled with the same consistencies, but he can provide depth in the frontcourt and has shown the ability to space the floor in the past, converting 35.0% of 3-point attempts in his career.
Adding a first-round pick in the mid-to-late teens is another valuable asset, especially with the salaries of Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns limiting future free agent spending. Those picks will provide a potential rotational player and, simply, more opportunities to hit on a prospect.

But the deal is not without some question marks moving forward. McLaughlin is the only legitimate point guard, though Turner has played point guard in the past and was the ball-dominant guard at Ohio State. Wiggins and Culver have shared time at point guard.
Most of all, they could be angling for a D’Angelo Russell trade with multiple first-round picks, possibly Wiggins and other pieces.
Whichever path the Timberwolves choose, they’re well-equipped with assets.
