Should the Chicago Bulls be active at the trade deadline?
The Chicago Bulls will make at least one move by Thursday, right?
If you’re expecting the Chicago Bulls to make a blockbuster move before the deadline, you’re probably going to be disappointed. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t expect any moves before Thursday afternoon.
It would certainly be a surprise if Valentine is still on the roster post-deadline. The writing appears on the wall, Boylen is clearly not a fan, there are teams that need shooting that could use Valentine and Denzel himself has expressed a desire to receive more playing time, if not in Chicago than somewhere else.
That’s likely the only move the Bulls will make, though Thad Young is a wildcard at this point. Unless Chicago was to receive a playable big man who could take Young’s place filling in for Markkanen- not sure Maurice Harkless of the LA Clippers is that type of player and not sure the Clippers would move Montrezl Harrell for Young – it would be hard to see Young go, especially with Markkanen’s injury.
Should the Chicago Bulls be active at the deadline? They certainly shouldn’t be stagnant. But, besides Valentine, the expectation is that the roster will remain largely intact, for better or worse. If Porter, Markkanen and Dunn can make it back on the court within a reasonable timeframe, there’s still an outside chance for this team to make a playoff push in March and April.
With this team, though, that’s a BIG if.
