Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are in a spot where they will likely either stand pat or go for a major blockbuster. Given that dichotomy, the odds of a trade are quite low but if one happens, a piece with significant salary will have to be involved. The best fit might be Kelly Olynyk. He’ll make $12.67 million this season and has a player option next season worth $13.2 million. When he plays, he’s pretty good, and his salary is significant enough to be included for matching purposes but not so daunting as to overshadow his value on the floor.

Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks are cruising at the top of the NBA standings with a 42-7 record. They don’t really have to make a move, but if they did Sterling Brown is probably the most likely to be a piece. He’s been rumored to be potentially on the move, makes the minimum and his contract expires after this season.

Minnesota Timberwolves

It’s hard to know where to start with the Minnesota Timberwolves. They’ve become synonymous with nothing but losing. Their best player, Karl-Anthony Towns, hasn’t won a game since around Thanksgiving, and they’ll need to make a trade. Robert Covington has been tied to just about every team that has a need on the trade market, and that’s our pick for this exercise.
