5 players for Cleveland Cavaliers to target at trade deadline

3. Dario Saric
Back in the 2016-17 NBA season, Dario Saric was a finalist alongside Malcolm Brogdon and his teammate, Joel Embiid, for the Rookie of the Year Award. Brogdon ended up winning the award while Embiid has had the most successful career of the bunch. But, what happened to Saric?
Since his productive sophomore season in which he averaged 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds, Saric has played for two different NBA franchises in hopes to finally find a suitable fit.
His time in Philadelphia was limited by the presence of Embiid. Once healthy, Embiid’s dominance helped him become a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA member. Consequently, Saric became an afterthought in Philly.
The 76ers then traded Saric to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he once again played in the shadow of an elite big man in Karl-Anthony Towns. This season, the story is still the same for Saric who is now sharing the frontcourt with Rising Star Deandre Ayton with the Phoenix Suns.
Saric is a talented scorer that can post up and face the basket. He is a streaky but mostly reliable shooter with a soft touch across the perimeter. His near 7-foot frame makes him a strong rebounder but he has never been much of a rim protector.
Still, coming to the Cleveland Cavaliers would offer Saric the offensive freedom he so desperately needs. Saric would fit nicely with the rest of the Cavaliers young lineup. Depending on the trade package, the Cavs may be able to receive a draft pick along with Saric.
