Detroit Pistons: Sell

With Blake Griffin sidelined the rest of the season and Andre Drummond’s player option looming, it makes more than sense that a fire sale is coming in Detroit.

Years and years of mediocrity have led the Detroit Pistons to this point. Tony Snell and Markeiff Morris have player options this summer as well: The former for $12.2 million, the latter for $3.4 million. It won’t take a rocket scientist to figure out which of the two will accept his option.

On the bright side, there are some solid pieces to go forward with. Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk is hitting 43.0 percent of his 3s, precisely as advertised. Bruce Brown is still a limited shooter, but is improving and has a good defensive foundation. Christian Wood has been a nice surprise and has the second-most win shares on the team at 2.9.

Luke Kennard has become more than a shooter, now boasting an assist percentage of 18.8 while maintaining a 3-point clip near 40 percent.

Overall there’s not much else to say. Detroit was been mired in mediocrity before trading for Griffin and injuries have dampened his impact since the move. Resetting has been a solution for fans to point to for years and it only continues to become more clear.

Langston Galloway and Derrick Rose are obvious trade candidates. Galloway is a free agent this summer with only a $7.3 million cap hit, an easy number to match. Rose makes a similar amount ($7.3 million this season and $7.6 million next season). They are both serviceable guards who could help a lot of teams.
