Brooklyn Nets: Buy

Another team in a bit of a gap year, the Brooklyn Nets are waiting on Kevin Durant to come back next season to truly contend. Making moves for this season are only sensible if they don’t jeopardize future endeavors, a delicate world that teams built around a star don’t often find themselves in.

Spencer Dinwiddie is back to the bench as Kenny Atkinson tries to feed everyone. His use of rotations last season was especially creative, so it’s no surprise he’s open to trying so many new things.

Although it doesn’t make sense to push in big chips, Kyrie Irving did make a cry for help a few weeks ago, suspiciously omitting certain names along the way. If they can make a lower-tier pickup, that makes sense for the franchise.

Brooklyn is fully stocked at the guard spots and the center rotation belongs to Jarrett Allen and DeAndre Jordan (when he returns from his finger injury). The 4-spot has been a sore spot for this team in years past, but Taurean Prince and Rodions Kurucs are holding it down just fine this season.

One area the Nets can shore up with or without Durant is their size. Last postseason Joel Embiid pummeled Allen and Brooklyn’s backup options were not great at stopping him either. That same issue could arise against Giannis Antentokoumnpo, the likely opponent for Brooklyn if it makes the playoffs.

Not that anyone can truly stymie those behemoths, but it behooves the Nets to find someone who will try.
