Although the Brooklyn Nets are hoping to make the playoffs this season, 2020-21 is the year that really matters, when Kevin Durant returns to the active roster. In this proposed trade, the Nets would get rid of two of their three 2020 second-round picks to bring in a young, productive forward in Dario Saric.

The Nets could even sign him to a longer-term contract and make him part of their future plans.

The Phoenix Suns, after a strong start to the season, have fallen off the cliff and, for what would be the 10th consecutive season, do not project to be a playoff team. If they don’t plan on signing Saric long-term, they could get a couple of second round picks in effort to try to make some quality picks in the upcoming draft or even package those picks to move up.

If I’m Phoenix, I want as many shots at good, young players in the draft as I can get.
