There is no way this trade actually happens, but it’s fun to think about. This trade makes zero sense at first glance. But, if you start to think about it, it makes sense for both teams in different ways.

The Thunder, although they are looking like a lock of a playoff team at this point, are rebuilding. You have to think that John Wall, who is nearly half of a decade younger than Chris Paul would fit that timeline better. Also, Oklahoma City could tank some after the trade deadline since Wall would not suit up until next season.

For the Washington Wizards, Chris Paul would sell tickets as well as make the Wizards relevant now. We have seen many years of John Wall and Bradley Beal and they just can’t get over the hump. Chris Paul has been an excellent veteran leader both on and off the court in Oklahoma City, could he be a similar figure for a rebuilding Wizards team?
