In this trade, the Detroit Pistons could get off Andre Drummond, but also get a productive center in return to make a playoff push if they choose to go that direction. Regardless, Hassan Whiteside will be walking this summer for nothing like Drummond would have, but instead they come away with Nassir Little.

That is at least a good consolation prize if nobody else bites on Drummond. Whiteside’s productivity would keep Detroit relevant in the East as well.

Simply put, Portland needs to swing for the fences. Things are not going well for them through the halfway point of the season. Andre Drummond could bridge the gap for the Trail Blazers and propel them into the playoff race late in the season. It would be a shame if the same team who made a Western Conference Finals appearance just last season missed the playoffs.

Drummond would be elite in the Portland system and great alongside floor-stretching Carmelo Anthony.

This is a trade that honestly makes sense for both sides. What do they have to lose?
