Ultimate challenge for Marvin Bagley III with Sacramento Kings

There is hope

It was not noticeable at the time, but when the Sacramento Kings drafted Marvin Bagley III with the second overall pick in 2018, he entered the league at a disadvantage.

He was immediately expected to be one of the core pieces that would lift the Sacramento Kings from their losing ways as well as constantly trying to convince the fans of the organization to forget about the media favorite, Luka Doncic.

So far in one-and-a-half seasons, Bagley is facing a sophomore slump while Doncic is having arguably the best season a sophomore has had in NBA history.

Most likely, Bagley will not have a better career than Doncic once their tenures in the NBA are done. But with that said, it does not mean that the Kings screwed up by taking Bagley in the 2018 draft.

Bagley is still a promising talent that has a ridiculously high ceiling. If he can get back to his trend of constantly improving his game by the night, not only will he become a dynamic player for the Kings, but one of the better players in the league.

Understandably, Kings fans are upset that their team let Doncic slip from their hands. The fan base has endured a lot of pain over the last decade and beyond. But they should not forget that they have a player that also has superstar potential and the capability to lead the team back to being a competitive force in the league.

A lot of optimism for Bagley, but will the challenge be too much for him to handle?
